About

Gladys Hirsch founded MuddyVarium as a quiet act of creation—a place where hand and mind meet, and making becomes meditation. What started as a personal practice has grown into a ceramics brand rooted in slowness, sustainability, and the tactile beauty of clay. Working with this ancient material connects her to a lineage that spans cultures and centuries, and she feels honored to be part of a global community that continues to celebrate its enduring power.

In 2005, she began working with clay and quickly found a deep connection to the process. Pottery became a way to shape her experiences with the natural world into something tangible and shareable - artworks that tell stories and invite others into the quiet beauty she sees every day.

“Whether exploring a new city, splashing in tide pools, noticing patterns in the ocean floor, or hiking in the rainforest, I am always drawn to the small details in nature. These moments spark ideas that find their way into each piece I create. My work is a reflection of how I experience the world. I hope it encourages a deeper connection to the beauty that surrounds us.”
